IPS Weld-On®—How to Apply Thread Sealant

August 24, 2021 – The Woodlands, TX – Many installations and final connections require thread sealants and joint compounds to complete the job.  Should you use PTFE Tape or Thread sealant.   PTFE tape provides lubrication for the threads but minimal sealing.  Thread sealant with PTFE will have both the lubrication and sealing properties.  Once the sealant dries, it provides a seal that prevents leaking.

Step 1:  Apply thread sealant across the threads in a perpendicular direction to deposit sealant onto threads.

Step 2:  Next, brush the sealant with the threads to ensure full coverage to the deepest part of the threads.
