Beveling Tips

  • Remove inside diameter burrs or raised beads with an internal deburring tool or knife. Remove the burrs or raised beads on the outside diameter of the pipe by using a file or external deburring tool,
  • Check the end of the pipe. If the tubing cutter has formed a raised bead, it must be removed.
  • Remove any rough or raised edges caused by sawing or cutting. This can be done with a file, deburring tool, knife or reamer.   Burrs or raised beads on the outside of the pipe can scrape channels in the cement layer and softened surfaces, and can cause leaks.
  • A chamfer or beveled edge at about 25º and 3/32” on the outside of the pipe is recommended to avoid pipe scraping channels in the cement layers and softened surfaces.
