Acetal (polyoxymethylene) is an ideal choice for many industrial applications due to its mechanical properties. Acetal is a high-strength, low friction engineered plastic that has excellent wear properties in both wet and dry environments.
SWM offers (homopolymer) Acetal in natural color sold in 5’ lengths (1/4” OD to 2 1/2” OD). The bushing stock has superior stiffness and toughness while providing a low friction surface for many applications including bushings and bearings as well as many other machinery parts.
Acetal is also used to produce products that are highly resistant to abrasion, heat, water absorption and organic chemical compounds (i.e. hydrocarbons) and spans the material properties gap between most plastics and metals. It is used when you need a strong, slippery and/or flexible part for sliding mechanisms in automotive, medical, industrial and commercial applications.
Easy to machine to close tolerances, these dimensionally stable tubes resist expanding when exposed to heat and moisture. They have a naturally slippery surface along with excellent wear resistance.
